Liscense or perhaps pattern unlock.

I just use No Lock - get rid of it altogether.
If Apple tries to actually take it to court, doubtful it will hold up. Saw in a different article that a Dutch judge already declared the Apple slide to unlock patent invalidated in that country b/c a european Windows CE phone called the Neonode had already been released and featured the slide to unlock gesture before the Apple patent was even filed.
apple is the lawsuitingest bunch out there.
Personally I think android had a win with the rotary lock, and ICS brings that to the next level - the slide to unlock is very primitive in the world of mental perception and forward moving technology
heres a little bit of the actual patent....
"A device with a touch-sensitive display may be unlocked via gestures performed on the touch-sensitive display. The device is unlocked if contact with the display corresponds to a predefined gesture for unlocking the device. The device displays one or more unlock images with respect to which the predefined gesture is to be performed in order to unlock the device. The performance of the predefined gesture with respect to the unlock image may include moving the unlock image to a predefined location and/or moving the unlock image along a predefined path. The device may also display visual cues of the predefined gesture on the touch screen to remind a user of the gesture. In addition, there is a need for sensory feedback to the user regarding progress towards satisfaction of a user input condition that is required for the transition to occur."
i think the patent on the touch unlocking would also include the rotary lock as well no? and if so...how are we expected to unlock our phones.. i mean ICS has the face detection but who really wants to us that as its main source to unlock the phone. seems more like a cool thing to show off to your buddy's.
What about touching two places at a time? No gesture at all, let's say both bottom corners. Swipe that Apple!
