I did try. Anybody can confirm power vol down then up reboots?
That did it. Thank you for the trick
yep reboots fine my battery cover hasnt been off since day one
Thanks for the instructions on rebooting - my dissatisfaction is with the fact that this occurs at all - my phone has randomly powered down on 5 occasions now - once in the middle of a call, which was EXTREMELY disconcerting. Pretty much my opinion is that the dang phone should stay ON.
then you have a bad phone or battery or sim. mine hasnt restarted in over a month now
This is affectionately known as the BSOD. The good news is that by most reports the forthcoming .901 update resolves it. Unfortuantely, nobody seems to know when it will be pushed to more than the group that got it in error. If you want to install it in advance you can check out this thread. Official STOCK 901 Update Thread (No Rooting Discussions)
Life is too short to settle for mediocrity.
Current - Razr Maxx HD
RETIRED - OG Droid, Droid Bionic
Are we talking about the same thing? For the BSOD, on page 53 of the Bionic Manual:
Crash recovery
In the unlikely event that your smartphone stops
responding to touches and key presses, try a quick
reset. Remove the back cover and battery (“Assemble &
charge” on page 3), then replace and switch your
smartphone on as usual.
On page 55 of the Razr Manual it's Power and Volume Down for the same thing.
Power and Volume Up/Down at the same time is for Stock Recovery (adb reboot recovery), but with Power off. With Power on, doing that just gives the usual choices of powering down (plus it drops the ringer volume). At least that's what it does for me.
