What does the LapDock do?

If I get the optional laptop accessory with the phone, then I get a larger screen, and the phone provides the power. Can I use my 4G Phone data plan when connected to the dock? This to me is the selling point for the phone.

Think of it at as an extension of your phone on a larger screen. So in short yes, since your phone is powering the lapdock.

The Bionic does not power the lapdock its the other way around. The lapdock has a built in rechargeable battery and will charge the Bionic when docked. Yes your 4G connection is used with the lapdock and no matter what you hear you DO NOT need any special plan with extra charges to use it.
