    Bionic
I just got the Bionic yesterday, been using the OG Droid since it came out. I really like it so far. I have a question though I thought the Bionic has 16gb internal memory with a 16gb sd-card, but when I look at the storage in settings it only shows 8gb of internal and only allowing a certian amount of space for app storage. Plus when I look at the sd-card when I connect it to a PC with a USB plug that only shows 8gb total.

If anyone could clear this up for me I would appreciate it. Thanks.

It's called partitioning. It's believed to be mostly in preparation for ICS, the new OS coming out soon. The Bionic has partitioned, or separated, the storage into segments. 4gbs are reserved specifically for apps, nothing can go in or out. So at this point it's essentially pointless to store apps on the SD card, since it'll be more reliable in the partition. The other 4gb is reserved I believe for system processes and whatnot, so it's also untouchable. The last 8gb is the open memory that can be used for whatever. Then you also have the 16gb SD card, listed as SD-ext in your file manager. Hope this clears things up. It may seem pointless, but if you really think about it it makes perfect sense. 4GB for apps is more than you'll ever need, if you do fill it all up please post on here so you can be given a medal...

It makes a lot of sense, I really appreciate your help, thanks.

Going through Astro, I'm guessing the sd-card is partitioned in half since I see sdcard and sdcard-ext. Sdcard is holding a few folders and sd-ext only has lost.dir.

I had almost 3 gigs of apps on the sd card of my OG Droid, but most I hardly ever used.

I think this phone will last me a while.

Glad you are enjoying your Bionic. It didn't take me but a few days to realize I am keeping this phone for the long haul. Its been working great for me too.

I know what you mean. I had the Eris also. I didn't like many things about it. I sold it to buy my Droid X at the time. The droid X was the best phone i have ever owned (by far). .... And now the bionic is everything my X was and so much more.

I haven't seen any real problems yet. Dropping data seems to be an issue for all of the 4g phones on verizon. I am confident that many of the bugs will be worked out as time goes on. ::: and if not, Verizon will have to make it right for a 14 year (5Line family plan) customer.
