D3 worth using an upgrade for?

I have the DX and I'm wondering if I should use my upgrade to grab the D3. I really want a keyboard, but I'm kinda on the fence because I'm thinking I may want to hold out for an LTE phone that has one. Plus I was also worried about the display they put in the thing. People are saying it isn't the greatest and is a little rough. What do you guys think, upgrade or wait?

Well, I don't know that I'm the best one to talk because I just decided and ordered mine today. It really depends on what you want. The D3 has already shown this week that it is a powerful device, whether you like the screen or not. If you want a physical KB, then it is a great phone to take in my opinion. As far as 4G goes... For me, I won't have it for a very long time. I am a college student, so I will be in free wi-fi constantly. That will be my 4G for the time being. I'm not exactly worried about 3G or 4G because the more people that convert to 4G, the better 3G will probably get. Less traffic. It's really up to you though because I have seen some videos online of the screen and I am coming from a fascinate with the AMOLED. I think it looks better than this screen by far and unless you shove the phone in your face, i really don't think that it will bother you much. I say if you want it, go for it. I don't think you can go wrong by getting the phone.

I got the Droid 3 on Friday and except for the bloatware I absolutely love it. I have no idea why everybody is up in arms about the screen, I can barely notice a difference between it and the original droid, except for the fact it is bigger. As for LTE, it is completely useless to me because my area wont have it for at least the next couple of years.

If you like physical keyboards, IMO, the D3's is excellent. The way it should have been from the very beginning.

I've had mine all of six hours now and I have to say it's a nice improvement over my OG Droid (Rooted, running GPA15 and a 1.1 GHz kernel). The new version of Blur isn't half bad either. As you might expect apps run like a scalded dog on that dual core processor. Yeah, there's a lot of bloatware on it but root access will take care of that soon.

The most annoying thing about it so far is that when you connect the phone to USB it mounts a fake CD drive that auto-launches a "Moto-Helper" driver installer and fire-up your web browser that takes you to Verizon's website for the latest version of the VzcrapManager or something like that. It's easily defeated by turning off autoplay on your computer, but it's annoying nontheless.

Sounds like you guys seem pretty happy with it so far. Thanks for your input. It is much appreciated. How is the battery life, of course taking into consideration that you guys are still loaded with bloat and crapware? Any other drawbacks you guys have seen? (Other then a locked bootloader lol)

The first two days I had the phone my battery was horrible, was unable to get through the day on a single charge. I changed the mobile network from global to cdma and my battery life is now dramatically better. Actually i believe it is as long as or longer than my og droid or droid 2. Once the phone is rooted and I can get all the bloatware off I hope the battery gets even better.
