My D1 was rooted and my battery lasted forever. It's all about how you have it set up.

Well I didn't really do much to set it up, so how could I set it up to save battery?

Considering with root you can remove a lot of bloatware, it can only really lead to increased battery life if used correctly.

Did you install and begin using any apps that require specific root access? Like for backups or OS/CPU monitors?

I'm not an expert but rooting should not be the cause of your battery problem if you have not installed any apps to make use of it.

What non-root specific apps have you installed since?

Root, per se, doesn't have any effect on battery life.

Something else is going on - either an app you loaded, a setting you changed...hard to say.

Look in Battery Manager to see what is using your battery - might help. You could also get Watchdog and look for processes that are using excessive CPU.

You can run a program like SetCPU that allows you to lower the clock speed of your droid when the screen is off, or the battery is lower than a certain %, to improve battery life.

I would say that if you continue to see battery life problems you didn't see before, uninstall the last few programs you installed and see if that helps, or undo the last few settings changes you made.

Another thing to try is a factory reset - that could clean up problems that are hard to diagnose. Won't affect root...but will remove installed programs and settings.

Display is always huge, the biggest, that's normal.

Never used widget locker for more than a few minutes (I have a PIN, and didn't want to put up with two unlock screens and then the PIN lock) but if that's all you've added since root, then that's the obvious one to remove and see if that changes anything. Could be widgetlocker itself, or a widget you're using on the widgetlocker screen...
