Turned off, But Powers On Whenever Email arrives

Have a Droid 2. It is turned off at night. But when an email arrives, it powers up, receives the email, and beeps. We can turn off the beep OK. But how do you TURN OFF the droid 2 such that it STAYS OFF, even when email stacks up?

Totally power it off. Hold the power button till a pop up comes on screen and last option is "power off". There is a new option with GB that says, Sleep, low power, instant on, radio off. Don't know if that would work or not, but power off is just that.

Thanks for the reply - but the obvious answer of "hold down and power it off" was tried well before we wrote the forum for assistance. And we do, really, know how to do so.
    - We DO power it off. Completely off. Absolutely off. Using the "Power Off" feature as described.
    - The phone turns back on when email arrives, and only when email arrives, and beeps loudly.
    - It does NOT turn back on when someone calls or sends text message.
    - If no email is received, the phone stays off, and we have to manually turn it back on the next AM.
    - It did not do this when new, but started this behavior after Verizon put an automatic "update" on the phone after we had it for about 2 months. Of course, the Verizon stores won't admit any issues, nor supply any help - hence the forum for assistance.

Take to Verizon, power it off. Have them email it...

Very strange issue, one that is hard to believe until seen in person.

If it still powers up with the battery pulled, a poltergeist will be needed...

It sounds more like the phone has decided to turn itself on, and there happens to already be an email in the queue, so it gives notification.

But thaDroidz is correct, this issue is hard to believe until seen.

    This.
If we all agree on it, it must be true.[citation needed]

phone power back on is a known issue, the 2.3.4/4.5.621 update was suppose to fix this.
