APK for purchased app would not install

I purchased the latest version of IM+ Pro 4.0.3 from Shape Services and downloaded the APK file to the root of my SD card. However, when I attempt to install it, it aborts the installation, saying simply, "File not installed".

I downloaded another APK to my SD card and was able to successfully install the app, so I know the problem isn't with my phone or card.

Can someone tell me what is going on?

IM+ Pro never shows up as available in the Market from my phone, only the free version. That is what necessitated getting the APK directly from Shape Services.

At any rate, I figured out the problem with the APK: it cannot be installed from the root of the SD card. It must instead be pushed to the system/apps folder.
