D2G in Ireland

I'll be in Ireland the last two weeks of May. Is there a specific suggestion (carrier, plan, etc.) for taking and using my Droid 2 Global? I want to be able to call local and the US, access the internet, and maybe text but that's not absolutely necessary. I've searched the posts here and they appear to be for other models and operating systems - Maxx with ICS. Thank you for your efforts.
