When I try to type anything...a txt, facebook message, email...I get a few letters typed and the screen will freeze. Then it will suddenly close everything down and open something random.

Under settings-> applications->quick launch make sure that there are no shortcuts assigned. This solved the issue for me.
Okay, I had this exact problem show up a 2 days ago. Did a quick google search and found this fix: change the default keyboard to swype.
1) I use the physical keyboard so I could care less about the on screen keyboard.
2) I have tried swype and hope to get more into it, but probably not. LOL
3) I do not know why this worked, but it IMMEDIATLY fixed this bizzare problem.
4) My biggest rule is: Always, always, ALWAYS try a few suggested fixes before a reset. They suck (for me).
Good luck and let us know how/if you get this solved.
Cheers!
That also looks like you could go to the software keyboard settings, and choose “Clear learned words”.

Quick fix for this that I found last night.
Application->manage applications->all->multi touch keyboard clear everything but don't force close or uninstall. Work like a charm. I was having the same problem but now it's working nicely.

no problem, friend.
i was having the same problem yesterday and it pissed me off to the point where i wanted to throw my phone off of a bridge. glad to help.![]()
This also worked for my issue of some words I would type locking my phone up requiring me to force close what ever I was working on.
I blame all typos on intuitive spelling, Android needs a real spell check!
Be beautiful wife was ready to beat me for giving her my D2G after this keyboard issue developed. Now it's fixed by simply clearing the data on multi-touch keyboard. I get to live to beg for the D4--although, at this rate, it'll be the D5 by the time my next upgrade comes around. :-)
