Help with installing new bionic boot animation

So I've downloaded the bionic boot animation and sound from droid-life, and when I try to get the file over to system/media(where the current boot animation file is) on the phone, I can't access it since I've downloaded the file onto my sdcard, and it looks like the media folder that I need to get into is in the phones internal memory.
Any ideas of how to get around this?

You will likely need root and use a file manager that will use root permissions.

I have a Droid 1 with Project Elite gingerbread.

    In /system/media I rename the existing bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.bak

    I put the bootanimation.zip in /system/media

    Works

Stilling trying to figure out where to put the bionic.ogg

I'm running cm7 on my d2g. I'll try renaming the file. Do you think the ogg file might go where the zip file is placed?

Rename your current boot animation so you can keep it as backup just in case.

I tried put the sound in the same folder and also in the other sub folders and I still don't hear anything.

I forgot to do that when I downloaded the nexus boot animation using root tools lol. Is it possible to place the audio within the zip file itself?

Sure you could add it to the zip file, but will it work? I don't think it was intend to work that way. The desc file inside the bootanimation says to put it in /system/media but it doesn't work for me.

    I read a Droid X gingerbread user put the bionic.ogg in /system/media/audio/notifications

I tried it didn't work for me. I see reports that getting the sound to work has been hit and miss.

I just copied the bionic.ogg to system/media/notification and rebooted. Works fine. I use Root Explorer

Did you guys try setting permissions for the sound in root explorer? That might be why it doesn't play.
