    Droid still tied to another number help

    Ok, my brother in law just gave me a Droid 2 Global that he bought from some company (he does not remember which one) I tried to activate the phone to use on my account but it does not work. I contacted Verizon and they said there is nothing they can do. So I did a little testing to see what all I can do with the phone since its under a dif number, I can send and receive texts and make out going calls but can not get any incoming calls.

    When you try to call the number tied to the phone the recording says that it has been disconnected or changed.

    I was wondering if there is anything I can do so I can use this phone on my account.

    If someone can help me that would be great

    is the phone in CDMA mode or GSM mode?

    So when you call verizon to add the phone to your account they cannot add it?

    If its been added to your account but your having problems receiving calls then id suggest you SBF and see if it still has the issue.

    The ESN may be bad. You can do the SBF or just do a factory reset to see if that helps. If that doesn't work I'd take the phone into Verizon and see what they can do. I seem to have more luck with the store than the Rep on the phone.

    It sound like it has a bad esn, which is why verizon can't activate it for you, nor will they for any reason if that's the case.

    If it could be activated, a verizon rep would handle that for you, no problem.

    I'm guessing the texts you can send are coming from a number that's not yours?

    And unfortunately the esn could be bad for a number of reasons.

    yes the texts are coming from a dif number.

    So there is nothing I could do at all to get this phone switched to my account?
