Gorilla Gadgets 3500mAh Extended Battery

Maybe im gonna try to flash the very few Roms we have later tonight and see if it changes. Im some what a noob with all this. I've also got a tread started at http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dro...ml#post1363221 just for this but don't seem like nobody is posting on it

There is a folder in sys/devices/platform/cpcap_battery/power_supply/battery/charge_full_design and when u open it it should say 1390 which is what the stock battery come with I change it to 2800 cause I have a seidio 2800 battery and will test and see what happens. I also just got the gorilla 3500 and will change it to that when I get it fully charged (ran it dead for the first time last night so im gonna make sure it gets the full charge before I use it again) if anyone else tries it please post your findings. Thinking about making a tread on this.

Edit: I made sure I rebooted after I changed and im running stock os rooted with some of the crap that Verizon put in there deleted(blur and what not) but not all of it. Using setcpu with profiles and wifi build-prop scan to 90.

EDIT: didn't work every time I change it. It changes back?????

I just got my battery today and Im about to try this. What did you use to edit it? vi?? Are you sure you wrote to the file then quit? ... it may have something to do with yours being stock, may need to write a startup script to change that file.. My battery currently says 80%..we will see if it changes after I edit this file.

Edit: when trying to edit this file, it says read only...may have to change permissions. (I forget how to so off to google i go )

Im using root explore to change files. Long press it to bring up permissions. I no nothing about writing scripts that's y I posted to see if someone else can get it to work. Will donate a few bucks to whoever gets this to work.

Just got this battery and installed Battery Life Pro. I charged it overnight and took it off the charger around 12 noon. The phone was dead by 9pm. The battery actually lasted less time than my stock battery, which gives a solid 10 hours between charges. I had slightly above average use today, but certainly nothing too crazy.

Not really sure what to think of that, but I'm gonna give it another day or two of charge cycles to see if the battery life improves or not.

Did you use it until the phone shut off when you first got it? . And continue doing that.

Yep. Charged the phone overnight, unplugged the phone and used it until shutdown. I did the same thing yesterday. With less than average use (sending text, sending a few emails, using some web browsing) the phone was dead after 16-17 hours, which is still LESS time than my phone would last under normal conditions (~20-24 hours).

Also, another strange thing I noticed is that my system battery information displayed CORRECTLY both times. I am using battery left pro to calibrate how much battery is left, and it is displaying that the battery has a capacity of ~4225 mV, so the Gorilla Gadgets battery is "extended" in some way, but the system information actually gave a CORRECT reading both times. This is different from other users' experiences - system information will 'hang' at 5% and tell you your battery is dead, when it's still got juice. Maybe this battery is faulty?

Mine lasted 15-16 of use. My battery that I got with phone wont last but 5-6 hours, sometimes 4. I surf web most of the work day with sometimes trying to stream video and I play Texas holdum from time to time. That seems about 3 times bigger than stock (1390-3500). I just got battery left, I was downloading other battery widgets so maybe I can get a good read now.

Manoman, sorry but I refuse to believe you got your stock battery to last for 20 hours. Even over 8 at that. And the capacity is actually in mAH not mV...The voltage would have to be about the same as the stock battery for it to work in the phone.

Ive only got to cycle and charge the battery once so far but she last ~13hrs. Ill post up again when it dies again. My stock battery usually got me ~6hrs. Pretty happy with the results so far. It should get better. I hope it does by Friday for my trip to London, Paris, and Amsterdam .

This battery is well worth the ~$26. I do like the way I can hold onto my phone better. Makes it meaty. . Especially in portrait mode.

My Battery regularly lasts 20 Hours on a charge but thats mostly because I run Fission with SetCPU and scale the proc down depending on Battery state.

If you play with the phone all day like it's a crackberry then no even doing that will not get you those life numbers.

You also should also leave WiFi on when your in range as it does allow the phone to do data faster and with less battery usage than 3G

And if you are running the Moto Blur nothing will help!

Either freeze it with Titanium backup or run the Fission rom.

@terrets - Not really sure why you'd think I'm lying. The longest my D2G has lasted on the stock battery has been 1 day 6 hours till shutoff. And I did mean mV, not mAh. The GG battery has a "capacity" of 3500 mAh. Regarding mV, it starts off at ~4200 mV at full charge, and device shutoff occurs ~3100 mV. Please see Neverblu's earlier posts (pp. 2-3) describing typical battery life regarding mV potential ranges.

Granted my battery left pro is still calibrating, but I do find it very odd that my system battery info is reading the 3500mAh battery accurately. Other reports in this thread indicate:
1. Around the 3700-3900 mV range, BL Pro reads the battery at 70%, but the system reads it at 10%. Then the system battery info hangs at 5%, with red LED indicator light blinking. I've not yet experienced this - my system battery meter is actually more accurate.
2. The battery lasting easily over 24-36 hours after initial charge. I have not gone past 16 hours after two charges even with light use.

Anyone else experienced this? I'm thinking of calling up GG to see what they have to say about this, perhaps after I take the phone off the charger later today and go through its third charging / discharging cycle.

Edit - sorry for sounding like such a battery maniac. Ever since I've received this phone, I've just been extremely disappointed with the D2G's battery life, almost to the point of returning the phone (and now, half-regretting that I'm outside of the 30-day phone return window). I thought the GG 3500 mAh battery would be the solution to all of these problems.

I have a stock battery and mine can go for 20+ hrs. In fact my phone just hit 5% I just checked time since boot and it said 33:8:21. This is on 1 charge not multiple. If I play a game emulator my battery get about 8 hrs. Needless to say any emulator is a battery hog.
