    Complete CM7 Flash Guide

How To Flash CM7 To Your

    Droid 2 Global

Ok so you've rooted your phone and gained a bit of

knowledge about the Droid 2 Global. So what's next?

    A Custom ROM!

ROM stands for "Read Only Memory" Which really isn't an

appropriate name because we are going to be changing part of it.

Before you start make sure you are rooted (guide HERE)

and you have the Droid 2 bootstrap installed (guide "Custom Recovery"

    Courtesy of Koush HERE)

and that you are on Gingerbread (2.3) Which is the newest update

Ok so now you are going to get the CyanogenMod 7 Nightly

    Here:
    http://rootzwiki.com/topic/3069-dev-threaddroid-2-global-cm7-with-gingerbread-leak-kernel

    Newest as of 12/17/11:

    http://revnumbers.synik4l.net/CM4D2G-GB-20111217.zip

(As of right now http://revnumbers.info is down that's why I'm

telling you to go to the forum thread)

All credits go to RevNumbers for CM4D2G-GB

You will also need the newest Google Apps available here:

Latest Version/Google Apps - CyanogenMod Wiki

Then move both ZIP files to your SD card (If you downloaded them on

your computer) via a USB cable

    NOW THE FUN BEGINS!!!

Step 1: Boot into Clockwork through bootstrap

Step 2: Wipe the data and cache (use the camera key to select, volume to

navigate, power button to go back)

You will lose everything not on the SD card so back it all up!!!

Step 3: Install the Cyanogen ZIP from the SD card.

Install zip from SD --> Choose zip from sdcard --> CM4D2G-GB.zip

Step 4: Install the google apps (gapps) ZIP file

Install zip from SD --> Choose zip from sdcard --> gapps-gb.zip

    Step 5: Reboot!!! and enjoy

    This guide is not perfect!!!

Please comment with any problems and I'll fix it

    Haha whatever Jonas

There is a known bug with the newest release. The camera freezes when recording video. I heard around that it was a problem with the
media_profiles.xml located in System/etc. After messing around for a few hours I was able to pull an xml from an older build that works. Just
replace the bad file with this: media_profiles.xml
    It should fix it XD

    Hi,

Can you tell me where to go to replace the bad file with the one you posted?

    Thanks

Hey machplane If you don't want to use ADB you're going to need a root explorer (I recommend Super Manager free in the android market).
Move the XML file to your phone via USB (Which I assume you can do) and enable the ROOT function in Super Manager. Then delete the old
xml file and paste the new one there. Then reboot

    Hope this helps

    EDIT
    -Place the XML in System/etc

Makes me so happy to see someone I helped helping other people. Young grass hoppa has become a sensei.

    Thanks Jonas

Hey just a note here the new build was acting funky the other day. Then it randomly rebooted. I've been running it a solid week and it seems fine. I'm going to need a more stable build with Christmas coming up and all. I'll probably go back to my previous build until more stability is added.

Liberty with the Camera workaround is flawly. A good build for the holidays if you just need something reliable. And I've been out of it. What's this I hear about cm9 being an ics port for d2g?

Wtf? Just checked the Rootzwiki and there IS an ICS ROM for the droid 2 global. Just basic MIUI though. Too beta for my tastes. I believe RevNumbers is working on a CM port with the ICS framework. His sites down so I'm not sure. I might give Liberty a try
