I hate google

So heres thde deal my gmail account had been compromised so I started up a new one. They wont allow me to transfer the apps I purchased to my new account.....lyin bastagdes claim there is no way to do it! So I pretty much have to go back through and repurchase all the apps I had already spent money on.....f that I need my money more than I need those apps. thanks to google I will prolly never again purchase another.

this is surly a flaw in the system. I don't hate them for it, in fact I love google but the same thing happend to me. I didn't have many paid app's so I wasn't as mad but if anyone knows a way to help this issue that would be great.

Well I think they can't give your apps to your new gmail for security reasons, like what if some random person goes to google with a compromised gmail and asks to transfer the apps to another gmail? It should have been expected that it wasn't possible, there's no way for you to recover your old gmail?

So long story short new phone new account, same name, same phone numberet . Even when I add "the old account" to my new phone that was set up with my "new account" I dont get those apps. back. The security issue that rusty brought up shouldnt make a difference Google knows the accounts are both owned by the same person, me, and are only for use on my phone.

Something I don't understand is, why couldn't you just change your password? Why create a whole new account?

There's also a thing that google offers for security where you have an extra step or something before you can logon from a new computer. I don't know how it works since I don't use it.

Hope you figure something out. That would suck.

Got your PM. I'll respond here with a few thoughts:

1) One reason why Google probably doesn't want to transfer paid apps is because they don't own the application, the developer does. So the developer themselves would have to allow you to purchase the new app for free under your new account. If you want to try, you could contact the developers (their email addresses are usually listed in the market under the apps they have on there) and try and prove to them you are the owner of the old account. They may cut you a break or they may not. But I can understand why Google doesn't control that.

2) I understand you wanting to set up a new account since the old one was compromised. But if you have access to the old account, you should definitely go in there and change the password and also do the extra verification procedures they recommend.

3) You can only set up your new phone with 1 GMail account. BUT, you can add additional accounts to the Gmail app to have them all use the GMail application. HOWEVER, the market will only recognize the account that you set the phone up with. So if you want to restore all of your paid apps to your phone, you'll have to set up the phone with your primary (old) Gmail account.

4) Once you set up the phone with a Gmail account, I believe the only way to switch out the accounts is to do a factory reset and then initialize the phone and set it up with your old Gmail account. Then your paid apps would restore. Then set up your Gmail application with any additional or new email address you want to. And you can have all of your friends/family/associates use the new email address for correspondence, but your market/android account will be the old one.

My suggestion is to do #4, but make sure to secure the old account with a new password and authentication first.
