Caller assigned ringtones

This is a discussion on Caller assigned ringtones within the Liquid forums, part of the Custom Roms category; I'm running LGB v1.8 and it seems that the assigned ringtones don't work. Is it just me? Sent from my Droid using DroidForums...

    Caller assigned ringtones

    I'm running LGB v1.8 and it seems that the assigned ringtones don't work. Is it just me?

    you are not alone. I think it last worked in 1.6? I mentioned it a couple of times, but go no love.

    It works fine for me.. I just pull up the contact hit options then set ringtone...

    Occasionally I have noticed it not working but i have had that issue with every GB Rom I have ran. It seems to be kind of hit and miss.

    I agree that ever since I switched to GB it’s hit or miss. I’ve just got used to it so it doesn’t bother me as much as it used to. But it would be nice if it worked all of the time.

    I've been wondering about this too. I use my mp3 songs as ringtones, but they wouldn't work when i assigned them as ringtones.

    I thought maybe they have to be .ogg like in /system/media/audio/ringtones, so i got a conversion program from the market and tried it on my user-provided ringtones in /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones. This didn't work, but i tried converting them to .wav and lo and behold they seem to be working.

    Of course, they'll probably stop working for some reason, but i think the issue has something to do with the recording characteristics of the audio file. Something about .wav just happens to work for me (i'm currently running fission 2.4.3)

    I hope this helps somebody else out there with this annoying problem.
