Proper way to flash Rom?

Ok do I'm currently running lgb 1.4 ( not 1.42) and it was working great, but now it is incrediblely slow. I wanted to wait t 1.5 but not sure when that will be.

So this is how I flash my Tom's. D/l them from my phone and move to root of SD card with astro. Then I use rom manger to load from SD card. I delete wipe data/cache and then it reboits and flashes and all that stuff.

I hear of people wiping data/cache and other things from the recovery like 3 times. To do it this way do I still put the rom on the root of SD wipe and then manually glass it from the recovery screen?

First, change your recovery to a more better one and recent one called RzRecovery, [Recovery] RZR SPR-based *update.zips-battery charging-more*

Features it has:
- charges your phone while you are in the recovery
- the recovery is overclocked with it's own kernal, you can change the clockage in the settings
- you can change the color of the text to any color you like
- has all the features of clockworkmod and sprecovery
- .tgz rom install support
- uhh... I probably missed some features, read more in the main thread.

It has more options than clockwork mod, just flash the .zip file as if it was a rom. DONT WIPE DATA/CACHE THOUGH!!!

Before installing a rom and wiping cache, always make sure you wipe at 100% battery life, or else you will have battery issues.

Ok:
1. Boot into RzRecovery by rebooting and holding x
1a. make a backup, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
2. click wipe, and hit wipe all.
3. go back to wipe, and wipe cache. (although wipe all wipes cache as well, users have been reporting that wiping all doesn't wipe cache, and you have to click wipe cache again)
4. click install, and navigate to your rom to install
5. select it, and install it.
6. reboot into your new rom.

Quick note:
- uninstall rom manager app if you plan on keeping RzRecovery, the app is not compatible with the recovery

Thanks. Question about installing rzrecovery. Do I dl the update.zip file to root of SD, then flash it from recovery as if it were a rom? What about the sbf file? Do I need that?

The sbf file is only for if something goes wrong. If you have clockworkmod (or RzRecovery), it doesn't matter where you put the .zip file. if you have SpRecovery, rename it to update.zip and put it on the root of your sdcard.

Cool username...had a chuckle when I saw it.

The instructions above are spot on. But, the part where you say doing it three times...it has been proven that selecting wipe/format once doesn't always wipe/format completely, don't know why. So most ROM developers say to wipe three times just to be sure you're starting clean. I do it... superstitious/OCD I guess.

LBG 1.42 is a great ROM...1.5 will be even better. I just tried UD 3.2 today, not liking it so far to be honest. I'd say, right now, Chevy's Simply Stunning 5.2 (with the added patch) is the best ROM. Give it a try.

Thanks for the help guys. I did what you all suggested and installed 1.42 and everything is working perfect again!

I've really like the look of stock gb (can't stand cm) which is why I've used lgb. I've used Peter Alfonso's roms and althouhg they are pretty basic they run smooth.

I think ill try out Chevy's Rom til 1.5 is released.
