Yeah, just login to Verizonwireless.com, login to backup assistant, then export your contacts as a csv file. Then login to your gmail acct on your computer and import the csv file into your gmail acct. Your contacts will sync to your Android device.
    a little obsessive...

Next time via contacts export them to sd card. Doing that and keeping google up to date are your best bet. I depend on Verizon to take my money other than that I try my best to steer clear.

I had the same problem. It seems that Google Contacts would not sync up older contacts prior to Froyo or later update (don't recall). In any case, nearly all my contacts were missing except for more recent ones after installing a custom ROM (Rubix Focused in that case).

    Here's what I did:
    1) restore to stock ROM, all contacts were there at that point.
    2) export contacts as vCard (.vcf).
    3) www.google.com/contacts
    4) Import vCard saved as .vcf on the phone
    5) Viola!

Now all is well and Backup Assistant is but a memory.
