What is wycontacts?

I understand that wycontacts comes with Cyanogen mod and is created by a dev on XDA. What are the changes compared to the AOSP contact app? Does this one (finally) let us update birthdays via the contact app?

the best thing about wycontacts for ROM devs is that it's easy to customize. Dialer background, digit color, etc...

It is lacking in a few places, though. No T9 dialing is pretty annoying, and you can't link contacts, which drives my OCD crazy. I hate not having contact pictures for everyone. I want to sync all of my facebook friends to the contacts, and then link my existing contacts to their facebook accounts, which I can't do. And then I want to be able to only show contacts with phone numbers. Thus having all of my contacts with number also have facebook info/email info.

But alas, I love the transparent background so I guess I'll survive... If anyone has an idea for how I can achieve the facebook pics thing and only show contacts with phone numbers, I'd be pretty happy.

NOTE: I have tried having facebook only sync with my phone contacts. But naturally my mom's name isn't "mom" on facebook, and instances like that come up a whole bunch so they never get synced.

Select the contact you what to merge then select edit. select menu the select merge.. find the contact you want to merge with and select them. now the contacts are merged.

How do I get the transparent background? I can't see the options to change the background of the contacts/phone.

go to page 2, scroll down. You'll see someone explaining to me this process step by step, and the links to the .zips are at the bottom.

It's not a feature in contacts, you'll need to replace the .apks
