Interesting. Some magic faeries must have visited my phone between the time I went to bed last night and the time I woke up this morning. It's working now and I was able to install Peter's Gingerbread ROM just now.

Thanks.Quote:
Go into Rom Manager and click on "Flash Alternate Recovery"
When it finishes, click on "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery"
You should be good to go.
Good luck.
Yeah. I posted after that I had tried that and got an error. I seem to be good now.
ROM Manager can break recovery even if you're not flashing updates to it.
It can then utterly and epically FAIL to reflash it. :)
This garbage doesn't work, and it seems that for those that it does, it's plagued by inconsistency and unpredictable errors. I was misled into purchasing this worthless app.
Pretty much in general, yes, but since you're on a Milestone the rules are different.
What were you trying to accomplish? I might be able to help.
Hi furbearingmammal,
Thanks for offering your help. I am attempting to flash the phone to the latest stable CyanogenMod. I have rooted the Telus Milestone using Easy Root and can now see the SuperUser Permissions (v2.3.2.1) in my app drawer.
I have downloaded the Cyanogen build and renamed it to "update.zip", placed it in the main directory of my SD card and, using Rom Manager, attempted to install the ROM from the SD card after "flashing ClockworkMod Recovery".
The phone reboots, but not into recovery mode, it will just reboot back into it's normal state. Also, when I try to download ROMs, I either get an error, or see only "Free: Extras: Cool stuffs.". Selecting that will give me an endless progress bar or show me two options, depending on what the application feels like doing.
The two options are Superuser 2.3.1 cd and Superuser 2.3.1 ef. I have applied (if I remember correctly) the first option, but I'm not sure if it did anything since the phone did not boot into recovery mode.
So far all this app has done for me is lose all of my settings and skinning that I so painstakingly set up.
Thanks in advance.

Is this a Milestone or is this a rebranded Droid? If it's a Milestone then you'll need the CyanogenMod for Milestone. I'm pretty sure ROM Manager doesn't have that, so if you want to start a new thread we'll see if we can get you rolling with it. :)
Hi,
It is indeed a Milestone.
I have started the thread that you suggested here.
ROM Manager only had two ROMs listed in the download section, but I tried flashing to a stable version of Cyanogenmod on my SD card renamed to "update.zip" after placing it in the root directory of the SD card. No dice.
Anyway, hope to hear from you in the new thread. Thanks!
I installed ROM Manager and when I select "Backup Current ROM", accept the default name, the phone reboots but there is no indication any backup is being performed, it just reboots.
Under "manage & restore backups" there is nothing.
help?
thanks.
