does thunderbolt 2 mean end of life for thunderbolt?

I hope the Thunderbolt 2 doesn't mean that the end is coming soon for the thunderbolt. We just got the thunderbolt earlier this year and now a thunderbolt 2 is coming out. I'm hoping Verizon is going to let those of us with a thunderbolt exchange it for the thunderbolt 2 especially if they're going to quit supporting the thunderbolt.

Dream on. The whole point is to get you wanting a new phone. They're most unlikely to be giving breaks on a flagship device

Stock Bolt, no plans to root. Works fine.

I've dropped it 5 times in the past two weeks (on accident) so far it's made it. But if it were to bite the dust I'm demanding a thunderbolt 2.

By the way it still crashes way too much. Just locks up to where I have to remove the battery to restart it and verizon has told me I'm out of luck just to deal with it.

The Thunderbolt (stock) will be upgraded to Gingerbread, and then that will be it.

My guess is no, not officially. I could be wrong. I've heard that google is encouraging all carriers and oems to upgrade devices to ICS once it's available.

I hope they upgrade the thunderbolt to ICS. What does ICS do for phones? I haven't been here in a few months til I saw about the thunderbolt 2 somewhere.

Good luck with demanding a thunderbolt 2. Here is how I see your conversation going. You: yeah I dropped my phone and it broke. Now that the thunderbolt 2 is out you need to give me one of those as a replacement, I will not use a refurbished phone! VZW or asurion: sorry, but we only offer a direct replacement phones. You do have the option of buying a t2 at full retail price if your not going to accept a tb...

I could always cancel my service and port to sprint. I'm not going to take a non-supported phone.

Your only speculating that VZW won't support the tb, heck they are still putting out patches for the Droid x, and they don't even sell it anymore. I think you will see phone support for about another year, then it will be a crapshoot about future updates.
