I remember seeing that the Thunderbolt supposedly does 3G browsing as well as voice at the same time. Is that true or does it only do this in 4G?

Yes, it does assuming you have the eHRPD network in the area which is most everywhere. That's what they say, even though mine has worked over plain Rev.A although very slow.
