Lol for those of are that aren't genius rooters...I have a question which thanks to this post im embarrased to ask

If you root your phone NOW, and the phone updates in the future...will something happen to the phone? Do you have to unroot, update, then root again

The update will break root and you will have to root again. If you are running a Rom or have removed bloatware you will likely have to return to stock.

^Thank you! Will it brick your phone though though if you update while your phone is rooted.

no you will just be unrooted. if you have bloatware removed then the update will start and then quit, but still no brick. this is at least the way at has been thus far.

I was under the impression once you rooted and installed custom rom it would no longer receive OTA updates?

Can someone please clarify to this?

no brick, and if you run a custom rom they generally turn off the OTA updates.

and, fyi, by the time the gingerbread update comes out you'll probably have access to an Ice Cream rom

Edit to add: once you have a recovery loaded (i.e. past the scary re-write the bootloader stage) it's nearly impossible to actually brick your phone.
