Kickstand, Charging Port, and Desktop Dock

The Thunderbolt has a kickstand, so its meant to be able to sit upright on its own, eliminating the need for a desktop top. However, they put the charging port where it can't be used when upright with the kickstand...and I guarantee it was no design mistake. They did it so that you're forced to spend extra money on the overpriced desktop dock if you want it to charge it while sitting upright.

Anyone else think this is complete BS?

well i agree sort of i have the og droid and have the dock for it and love it. charges it and holds it upright and gives you a nice clock being docked goes to clock auto or slide show or music whatever you chose i like it alot and will for sure get one for the tb

Charging port on the bottom, like the Evo. Or at least the side opposite the kickstand.

you can use the kickstand in portrait mode while charging.

assuming they changed it for the sole purpose of selling docks would be dim. that would assume they were going to be the sole provider/beneficiary of dock sales, which they won't.

are you aware of the issues the EVO has with its charging port being located on the bottom? seems to be a recurring issue where the port eventually become loose or broken. could be a reason they relocated it on the TB...

is it in the "wrong" place? yes! is it a deal breaker? no!!!!!!!

The kickstand is such a worthless option. I'd give it up in a second if they added 25-30% more juice to the battery and I'll figure out a way to make it stand up on its own. They probably designed it for a dock so it fits in like the Droid and didn't quite think it through... if they did, you're probably right. Bottom line is that it's of limited value, unfortunately.

The charging port should have been on the right instead of the left. Then when you were using the kickstand, you could still charge from the top while in landscape. I fully agree that it was done to force people to buy the multimedia dock, even said the same in a previous thread.

i said **** it and switched the plate out to swap the kickstand side myself. so the kickstand swings out left instead of right. **** you htc.. i cant be beat

Are you saying you turned the plate around the other way so now it swings out the "right" way? I remember looking at video and I don't recall that it switched properly so that doing so would show the video upside down.
