Ice Cream Sandwich Update -> Stuck on white HTC bootup screen

So a couple months ago my friend rooted my HTC Rezound, but I don't know what all he did to it, since I don't really use (or know) any of the bonuses to having a rooted phone.

So today, when my phone wanted to update to the official Ice Cream Sandwich, and I asked him if that was ok. He said it wouldn't hurt anything so I went ahead and did it, and now it's been stuck on the white HTC screen for the last hour or so.

Seeing as I have no idea what I need to do in this territory, I could use a little help.

One needs to be very close to stock to take an OTA update. being rooted is ok, but not to have a different kernel, recovery, or to have a custom ROM installed.

At this point its best to download the ics ruu file to a pc, rename it to ph98img.dat, get it onto your sdcard, and install it via the bootloader.

one gets into the bootloader by removing battery, reinstall battery, hold volume down key and power button simultaneously until the bootloader screen is displayed.

[Exclusive Download] HTC Rezound Ice Cream Sandwich RUU For Final OTA (3.14.605.12)

I'm still downloading the file, but just so I know, which option do I need to use in the Fastboot menu?

I'm guessing I do it through the "IMAGE CRC" option?

    Full List:
    FASTBOOT
    RECOVERY
    FACTORY RESET
    CLEAR STORAGE
    SIMLOCK
    IMAGE CRC

Also, thanks for responding so quickly.

Everytime one boots into the bootloader it checks for a ph98img.zip

if the file is there, one uses volume buttons to choose to either boot normally, or to install the file.

there will be no other choices.

if you read what the bootloader displays you will know what to do.

I forgot to mention md5 checksum.

In the article where you downloaded the file is listed a md5 checksum.

you should find a free md5 program for your pc, and use it to read the downloaded file and display the calculated checksum.

if the checksums match then you know the file was downloaded error free, and safe to load onto your phone.

1 more question before I do it. do I rename the entire .zip archive, or just a file in there; do I need to extract the .zip file? sorry for all the questions

you downloaded the file, and its name ends with ".zip".

you rename the file to be ph98img.zip
place the file in the top level directory on the removable microSD card.
it will take about 15 minutes, be patient

there is no need to look into the zip file nor extract anything from it. if you are curious to look inside, it is best to use the 7-zip program to do this.

    alright
so I put it on there and everything, and it started checking the file, but when it finished checking it, it said "Wrong Zipped File" and then checked for other files before taking me to the normal boot menu

I checked the md5 with a program, and it matched, so it downloaded correctly

it looks like that, since I'm not on stock, I have to have my phone in S-Off

should I try doing this, or is there some other way I can get back to a stock version?
