I put in my Verizon extended battery and cover. I charged up the battery, left the phone on WiFi, and then went to bed last night.

I woke up, and checked the phone. After nine hours the battery is at 87%.

Now I turned off WiFi, and am using 4G with the signal showing only one bar. This should simulate someone going to work. I will be using opera web browser and playing games like angry birds, hearts, and backGammon.

I'll see how many hours I can go with heavy use in a one to two bar 4G signal area on a extended battery at 87%.
ok, I got 3.5 additional hours with WiFi off, screen always on, constant use either with opera web browser or games. I hook a few screen shots.

So, 9 hours leaving the phone on WiFi, not touching it unless it rings, plus 3.5 hours of constant use. If that's not good enough, then buy a razor maxx!

In your third shot it shows cell standby. Tap it and see how much time without signal shows up. Low reception causes the phone to crank up power to get a better signal and that power drain doesn't show up on any stats. The only way I can guesstimate with mine is by watching battery temperatures. When in good signal areas my battery runs cooler. Also in gsam tap the phone radio and it'll show how your signal is doing overall like the screen shot shown below

In another thread some users are seeing Maps as running way too much in the background. Once I froze Maps my battery life went WAY back up.
I didn't factory reset but just searched apps that were running when they shouldn't be and ones that aren't acting ICS ready . My charge time is back to normal, actually faster to get to 98%, and battery life is back to pre ICS levels.
I miss the separation of awake time vs unplugged time in the battery stats of froyo. It helped me find when my phone was acting up sooner.

it says time without a signal 74%

does that mean I had WiFi on 74% of the time?

because I did load many web pages during that last 3.5 hours when WiFi was off.

Anyway, I am not one of those complaining about the battery. I usually use the standard battery and charge often.

however, I do own the rezound extended battery and also a thunderbolt extended battery as a spare. I can't imagine two extended batteries not lasting through anyone's work day.

Howardz- my battery life is improving this week!! Almost back to normal. but here is my next question, I am not usually technologically challenged but I was on a website today and needed to call the number on the site and it wouldn't let me click the number to dial directly. Is this a setting somewhere I accidentally reset? Your expertise would be greatly appreciated

What I have found to work for me. Charge the phone over night, then let the phone completely drain and die before plugging back in. After a few times of this I have never had a problem. Also when it says fully charged unplug and plug the phone right back in, for some reason it will stop charging at about 98% yet it says 100%. I can get about 15 hours out of my stock battery with pretty good usage throughout the day.

You want to avoid letting your phone discharge completely. It's not good for the battery. Neither is trying to top it off by unplugging and plugging in your phone right away. Both can ruin your battery.

I won't say you are not right. As I stated though, its what has worked for me. I have had this HTC phone for about 5 months, and it is the first one that I haven't even thought about buying the extended battery for. My personal opinion is that this method has helped my battery.

In the short term yes it helps but it wears your battery out sooner
