HTC Rezound NO SERVICE + NO DATA if battery door removed???

I just noticed if i remove the battery door, i lose all bars and no data. All the antenna films and crap are all on the battery door, so if it doesnt touch then you have no service, i find that very stupid, why would they do that?? makes me feel if i hold the battery door then, i will cause it to lose reception or if my battery door comes loose im not gonna get service. What kinda crap is this?

It was likely a way to get better reception. Its an odd design, I agree and makes getting 3rd party batteries and replacement doors a more dicey proposition, but other then that.....not a big deal. I'm not running around with my door off anyhow

I'd say it's not an issue at all, not even a little! Why would you want to run without the back cover on? Why would you think it will "accidently" come lose? It won't, I promise you. It's actually kind of an PITA to get off.

To me it's a no-brainer, why wouldn't you use all that surface area for an antenna?

ya but you need to consider the fact that the main board should have an onboard antenna, and if anything, the battery door should be used as a antenna booster, not the whole antenna assembly. I mean if you look at it, the slighted scratch or something on the antenna line on the door, would cause you to not get reception anymore, so you would have to go buy a new door. Its not that big a deal but still would be more comfy if the phone had it built in and the outside was just an external booster.

I was about to make a post about this... but this phone gets the best reception i have ever had! I work right smack in the middle of a hospital and i still get 2 bars of 4g! which is good cause the wifi is slower vs the 2 bars of 4g. Im very impressed with that!

I had NO reception with my dinc2.....nothing...i might as well have turned my phone off!

it's nothing new to HTC either i know the incredible had that as well as the incredible 2 and I am pretty sure the thunderbolt has the same design.. it's an HTC thing.

Just took back cover off my tb had 2 bars 3g before I removed and still had 2 bars after and made a call it connected and went to three bars. I thought on tb metal on back cover was for wireless charging?

no the wireless charging battery cover is a totally different battery cover in all. I assumed it might have been that for the rezound but i guess i was wrong as well
