Looking for feedback on switching to the incredible.

I recently switched from the original droid to the X. I have been very pleased with the speed and the bigger screen, but I have been very let down with how poor the basic phone functions are. The speaker is very low volume which makes the speaker phone useless, and also very hard to hear the phone ring. The antenna strength is next to non existent, and I find myself dropping calls left and right. For me the phone is the most important part of the phone. Behind that I mostly use it to tether my laptop, get email, and use it for gps. Based on that info, is there anything about the incredible you feel I would be left disappointed with?

    TIA

    Kevin

The incredible is really a great device and I doubt you would find yourself regretting a switch especially if you like to root. The battery life is the only thing that is not that great in comparison to the Droid lineup.

Personally I will not buy another Motorola phone until they get rid of the stupid locked bootloader. It was a slap in the face.

I'm one that will not root my Incredible and I'm happy with that. Stock is good. I would think good wireless service would be dependent on where you live/work. I live and work where celluar/data reception is top shelf. In regards to Wi-Fi, I've notice my Incredible searches out and finds quite a few hot spots and Wi-Fi broadcasts around my neighborhood and business areas. With the battery performance, I just carry a couple battery packs with me and a car charger adapter and I'm good to go. All phone options are turned on like GPS, Wi-Fi, bluetooth as I want to take advantage of all what this freaking phone can offer to me. When the battery goes flat, I just pop in a fresh pack. I don't need/want to tether, btw.

With all considered, I'm happy with the HTC Incredible and its performance (phone/data/wi-fi/GPS). Sure, I wish I did have better battery performance but I just roll with it.

Signal strength is a little wonky on the Incredible.

It also has a tendency to restart on its own sometimes several times in a row, however since I downloaded a memory manager I haven't had that problem.

Most programs run smoothly and for the most part fast.

Call quality is good and the speaker is fairly loud. Myself though I use the radio car kit and play my calls through my truck speakers.

Of the ones on the market now I'd say you'd enjoy the Incredible or if you like a physical keyboard the new Droid 2.

I went from a DInc to X and Im very happy I did. The DInc for me had very spotty reception. The battery life was terrible. My DInc rebooted itself weekly and the little scroll button would go freaky and start scrolling my screens randomly. The X has had zero problems. Sense is nice but im actually really enjoying the ninjablur *ducks for cover* So in my experiance the DInc had alot of issues. Your mileage may vary but im a X-Man now. And im very happy with my choice.

I originally had the DINC but gave it to my wife, took her upgrade for the X. A few UI differences but I have modified that with launcher Pro and a few other widgets. The battery life is great on my X, the volume is great with mine. Never had a problem with that. I sometimes have issues linking my bluetooth but that will be fixed with FROYO. The size is a big difference. Also, Swype texting on the X is jammin! DINC doesnt have that until swype is offered in the app store. Either one you will come out on top. I still like the X but wouldnt mind having the DINC as a spare. I like both the same more or less. Size and battery life are the two major differences for a normal user.

you're not the norm, mine does not restart nor are there any signal strength issues. I never drop calls. Great device all around, still one of the better ones out there right now even with all the new phones recently out....

I came over from Crackberry after having first the Pearl 8130, then suffering with the Storm 9530. The DINC is the best thing since sliced bread. Mine has never rebooted on it's own, it never needs a battery pull and believe it or not, the battery last me a few days. I'm not a heavy user but I go to work, sit in the break room surf the web for about 20 minutes, text my boys, read emails and answer a few, take about 5 calls during the day, check the weather and still have 75% battery when I get home from work. I am no longer looking for another battery. I don't run task killers and I do check Facebook and my Google account plus 3 other POP accounts. This phone has been simply excellent. (knock on wood) Far better than anything Blackberry.

Let me add that I never ever have had a dropped call and my speaker phone is excellent. I use it in the car all the time.

I use Bluetooth/speakerphone 50/50 and both are excellent.I thought I'd never have another uber speakerphone like my old a930 but this one is even better.
Phone is fun to own and use, and I got a bigger screen than my Omnia but overall the phone is no bigger feeling.

Well..... Although I too love the phone.... I'm on my third one already. First one out of the box did not charge, sent it back and got a new one. Used the last one up untill last week and it just stopped getting 3G or any data. Got the one that I currently have, and its sombody else's problematic piece of garbage refurb....its already lost 3G then soft reboot it, it has it back, then again, so on so on. The battery life on this phone is worse than any phone I have ever owned....and yes I know how to properly charge and let the battery fully go dead..blah blah blah..... This phone has a great internal antenna...so great it uses up all your battery life searching for the best damn signal it can get..... I'm just holding off for a 4G capable phone that runs on Verizon is all.... buying time.
