help rooting 2.1

I just tried to put 2.1 on my phone and whenever i enter recovery mode and try to hit Hboot Mode it starts to unzip but stops abruptly after like 2 seconds. I clean wiped my phone before doing this followed all the steps correctly but no matter what i do it keeps doing this. Any suggestions on how to fix this or get it to work?

I must be behind the times! Has the Eris been Rooted?

idk why i put rooted, i just meant updating to 2.1

nvm i found out using astro i had the ROM file named incorrectly

The Eris has been rooted however...today matter of fact.

Yes it has so id just go with root instead of updating! go ovr to xda and get the zip

Yeah, since apparently they don't have root for the leaked 2.1..

This is sad that I don't own an eris, but I am here. Slow day for Droid news, actually, I am happy for you guys. Was starting to get scared it wasn't going to happen...
