Ok, I will do that. I was also told at verizon that you are charged data, even when the phone is just on, but not in use.

So if I'm not in wifi. I would assume I'm being charged data. Does anyone know how much "idle data" the phone roughly uses? Assuming you aren't using internet features, games, etc. And you have "mobile data", "background data" turned off.

Right now I don't have it activated.

I think ur settings r good but what u should do is talk directly to a vzw tech support rep. Not a sales rep. They will know what's up w all this.

Also, i searched "data usage" in the market and there r several good apps to help keep u in budget.

But, Yes, it IS a Good phone. For the Most part, it's just SLOW...
Sometimes it'll pop up a program Instantly, the next time, It sits there thinking wether it wants to do it or not, then decides OK, and pops it up for me.
But man, when it's slow, It's friggin SLOW... I compared Alchemy on my Eris to my Sisters D2G.. HOLY SMOKES... I compared Opening Forwarded E-Mails, That D2G just blows the Eris away. I know, I know, Newer technology, Better processor, what not. The Eris is just an Entry level. But I HATE It.. And I've gotta deal with it till October 11...

Oh Ya, Battery Life isn't TOO Bad, it just depends on HOW you use it. And Reception, it's as good as any Cell I've ever used...
But I do get the "Force Close" Dialog box quite often....
Sounds like you need to factory reset, root, or both.

I've factory reset my first 2 before, but it didn't seem to help any.
This phone is only about a week old, still acts like my other 2, so I'm assuming it's an Eris thing..
I've contemplated rooting, but I'm not brave enough to. LOL...
But, I think once I'm out of warrenty, I'll seriously concider it... or when I get me a real droid, and transfer this one to another line, I'll mess with it..

Personally, the droid eris is a lot better then the motorola devour (i had orginally), it didn't turn off every time i set the phone down. But like other people have already said, the phone is slow initially. But i have completely changed that in the past 2 months. First, root the phone (yes it voids the warranty, but you can always flash the stock rom back), then flash froyo 2.2 (personally i use v37-was more stable for me then v38 or v39), then get setcpu and overclock it (most people up here recommend not going higher then 710-performance, but i am at 787 with no issues, battery can last all day with moderate use), also turn off animations, 3D drawer, and don't use live wallpaper and you should be fine,

I don't have the Eris but I can tell you that you can stay below the
150MB limit monthly. Stay off the internet and only download what
you just have to have. I shepard my phone all month, as I cannot
afford a bigger plan, and wait to the last day to make any changes
and avoid any overages. I will eventually update, though. I also
believe you can use WIFI to avoid data usage, I don't know the
particulars on it but I do believe it can be done. If not, then my
bad. Good luck with your phone, I elected to get a reconditioned
Droid and I just love it to death, it's the 1st phone I have actually
    enjoyed owning.

if you do consider rooting make sure your phone is fully charged and on AC power or you will brick your phone! I have researched over and over again and the only way you ruin your phone is when you swiping out roms and your battery dies!

By default, it should pull emails, calenders, contacts, weather, and anything else you have set up every 15 minutes.

Dont waste your time and money on the Eris. It was outdated the moment it was released. HTC was simply trying to dump very very old chipsets. Everyone I know who owns the Eris is regretting it now. Its basically a ridiculously slow POS.

That's great advice, except he already bought it. I would have bought it for $90 too, and after I was done trade it back and get the $130 from Verizon. Once you get rid of the bloat and over clock it, it chugs along surprisingly well.
