Music files

I've never been able to understand the music filing on the Eris. Tonight I created a list on my computer (in a folder called favs). I then copied and pasted the folder to the folder on my Eris called Music. When I then wen't to that folder on my computer only some of the songs in that folder ended up in the folder on my Eris. I found the other files but they were listed separately.
I've discussed this with others before but still don't understand why, when I pull something from my computer it doesn't show up in my phone as I transferred it.
