Need a step by step guide to root/rom droid

Hello all...man there is so much scattered info on rooting...roms...apps that root... all kinds of info...can someone please point me to a really easy to follow step by step guide to root and apply a rom to my moto droid1

sorry if this is a dumb question but is it at all possible to root from a mac? i can boot up on windows 7 on my macbook pro but im reading windows 7 can sometimes cause issues


edit: found this response off another thread :I don't have a Windows box, is there a method to do the SBF portion of the procedure on Mac?
No. In theory you could compile sbf_linux for the Mac but the source code is not available. You're going to need at least temporary access to a Linux or Windows box to do this.

Well to root a Droid just download Z4 Root and run it, you're done. To install a custom recovery you can D/L ROM Manager from the market and flash CWM or SPR after you rooted. To unroot a Droid running 2.2 there is a stock FRG22D image out there that when flashed from ANY custom recovery it will return the phone to stock as well as replace the custom recovery with the stock recovery removing all traces of root.

There you have it. No PC needed.
