    droid x rooting on mac

ive been looking around n dont see much info on how to root the droid x with a mac. i know theres different themes roms and crap but all im looking to do is delete the crap i dont use from the phone. (stock brower, stock music player and other junk) should i just not bother? currently im happy just using launcher pro as my "theme" and just use my phone for music, movies, chatting and calls. all the other crap i figure just takes up space and crashes...

    thanks.

I think z4root in the marketplace will root the x and it does it all in phone.

Not yet, just worried that what im looking to do is not possible. If I do what u mentioned I don't have to do the whole theme thing do I?

No z4root is just a one click app that will give you superuser access or "root"

Once rooted you can choose what you want to do, it could be as simple as taking screenshots or as drastic as roms and themes. Be forewarned, if you fully remove bloatware you're future ota updates will likely fail, I suggest using titanium backup to freeze the apps so you can thaw them out later.

Ha, this is why I never jailbroke the iphones. So pretty much I should backup then root. Delete the music, blockbuster n crap like that then if an update happens restore it then "unroot"- I've seen threads around here for that..

Hitting the unroot button wont restore the system apps. There are several methods of removing and then restoring them but imo the easiest way is just to freeze them in the pro version of titanium backup, but you would pay for the convenience as I think tb is up to $6 in the marketplace.

Root first with z4root, then backup with Titanium Backup.

    Correct...just purchased!
Z4 has gotten better reviews than any other "one click" root app I've seen to date! I'd still recommend reading (A LOT) so you'll know what was done "behind the scenes" for future reference though.
