Are you using SPRecovery? If so, both will be in the selection list.

+1 for SP! Just seems easier to use, IMO. Comes down to personal preference though I suppose.

I'm guessing you have a Droid.

First, you need to download the rom and rename it to "update.zip"
Make sure this only ONE ".zip" extension

Mount your phone to your computer and copy the "update.zip" to the root of your SD card
    Turn you phone off.
Open the slider and press and hold the "X" and power button until the white MOTO symbol appears.
Using the volume button press down and select "advanced nandroid backup"
    press the camera button
using the key pad enter the name
when you are finished press the "return" key

Now use the volume key and wipe data and cache 3 times
Next, use the volume key and select install
Choose Install/SDcard/update.zip. Do both installs (the first will take seconds) the second (deprecated)) will take a little longer
    the rom will install
when the install is finished use the power button to go back and select reboot

Your phone will reboot. This will take longer that normal Let you phone sit
You wil need to reactivate by entering your Google acct. You apps will reinstall as well.

    Hope this is helpful.

Actually, clockwork recovery is awesome. As a boot menu, I can use my dpad to navigate, and it can choose ANY zip from the sdcard to flash! No need to rename to update.zip
