batterys charged, using droidlife to boot, trying to open the phone in recovery mode this took me to the clockwork recovery icon. Can't get out of clockwork recovery without removing the droid battery. Any suggestions

I have always used SPRecovery. You may have better luck with it. There are two versions out there.
One claims to be SPRecovery only without the kernel conflict. I have yet to get that version to work.
The other is the full SPRecovery. This version does cause problems with the phone not seeing a charged battery when flashed on a Froyo phone. I use this version, making sure my update.zip file is in place and ready to go BEFORE flashing SPRecovery onto the phone. That way I can update it ASAP and fix the battery issue and not be stuck in a boot loop.
