Need some direction with Easy Root, one-click root for DROID 1

I understand that easy root does most of the leg-work to give you root access, but I'm a little confused as to what comes next. Since I've been reading the other posts, do we skip ahead to the titanium backup to back up our stuff, then install the rom manager? If so when do we apply the 2.2 rom

exactly what I want to know.

I also would like to know how to backup without lines of code since I don't know this OS and such. if anybody has a link for an easy way to do this, that'd be awesome.
My phone is the Droid Eris. Any questions/suggestions I post are all going to be related to, or have been tested on this device, and this device ONLY. Other than that, I love my Droid Eris!

please read my signature about rooting. Once you understand what is going on we can get you rooted. Rsdlite is just as easy and its safe.

I understand the terms and all, but here's a quick question..

if I mount the SD card to my PC and copy everything into a folder(pre root), then, I root, say I screw something up, can't I mount it back, delete everything off of the SD card, then put it all back on from the folder (pre root?)
    thanks for answer

rooting itself does not change anything. Infact when I rooted people devices with rsdlite and it booted up everything was the exact same way. Rooting itself do not do anything but give you permissions (as stated in that link in my signature....please read it it will reaaaaaaaly help you understand the process). After you root make a nandroid backup. Then if you feel the need to make a copy of the nandroid folder on your computer.

ok but see this is exactly where I am stuck.

I don't understand how to make a nandroid back up. I read your signature, I promise I did. I wouldn't waste your time and I know you're trying to help me. I understand what rooting is, what it does, and honestly I only want to do it because I want to (figure out) how to rename some useless stock apps to .pak to clear up some memory.

I will get into roms eventually, but not if I can't figure out how to back up using nandroid.

I am on eris by the way... I'm sure you saw that already though

according to that tutorial, I need to purchase SP backup from the market, correct?

that was great and seems very easy.

now, one last thing... unless the answer is something horrible.

I've read threads about a Market app called "1 click root"... will this work for my droid eris?
