Roms never work. Load screen always stuck!

So I rooted my phone successfully and used DMUpdater for the first like 2 hours haha. I then found ROM Manager hoping it would ease the use of downloading and installing roms. Well it is easier. I can download and update without hassle, but once I try to reboot my phone, it gets stuck on the DROID logo and the red droid eye image. I want to play around with more stuff, but I'm stuck on smoked glass 5.0 right now. Any help?

was your device rooted before 2.1 ota...so in other words you are not running 2.1 ese 81

if not follow this:

Root 2.1 by using SPRecovery
Download ESE81update.zip
thanks to Pete of Bugless Beast for creating this file
rename the downloaded file to update.zip
mount Droid to computer
copy file from computer to root of sdcard
unmount card from computer
hold X while rebooting until SPRecovery screen comes up
wipe data factory reset
install
allow update.zip
install /sdcard/update.zip (depreciated)
