Incredible work Matth3w...that took a lot of effort on your end. It is appreciated for newbies like me to rooting. I've only done 2 ROMs and am hoping to try out others. Your guide makes it so simple, it's now a bookmark right to this thread.
You rock.
P.S. I'm in Arizona too...just a hell of a long way from you...I'm in Tolleson...lol.

ok took some time to try it again and here are the problems i'm facing. decided to go back to 2.0.1 till there's a better more stable version (or at least one that will work for me)
[1] the weather widget doesn't work unless i put in my location manually.
[2] led notifications are gone
[3] this is not the roms fault but the overclocking only lets me go from 550 to 800, i'd rather keep it at 600 (another reason for me to go back to the other one)
that's about it now. no more force closes and it looks great, but i need my led notifications and i dont wanna have to run at 800 and of course not having the weather widgets working is annoying

I think I am the only person on the planet that cannot get a Nandroid restore to work for the life of me.
It doesn't matter if i'm trying to restore a ROM or trying to restore a previous backup. Every time I go to reboot, I just get bootloops (with a ROM) or it stays on the Motorola Logo (with one of my backups).
I followed the guide to a T and I was rooted previously running Pete's Bugless Beast for 2.0.1 and had no problems doing the update.zip way.
I was forced the other day to use the .SBF file and I figured I'd give it another shot.
Can someone please offer some type of insight as to why my Nandroid Restores are so screwed up?!
Thanks to all!!

I've been lurking here for a while. I felt compelled to register, simply to express a word of sincere gratitude.
Excellent work, Matth3w. This is an epic thread. And I've never been happier with my phone than I am since modding the ever-loving **** out of it.

Maybe it's been suggested already, but I'm thinking Matt is on his way to mod status!
Pretty awesome. Let me ask, did that take you like 2o minutes to type up?
I'm not even ready to start reading this one yet.... I still have to try AdamZ's Smoked Glass ROM. That whole "wipe data" thing has got me nervous (though not as much as I was before rooting) and want to see everyone's feedback and screen shots first.

Youre so organized and I love it.

matth3w,
excellent guides! in fact i followed the older guide which was the 2.0.1 version of BB. so now that's what i'm running. i noticed on this new guide that if i want 2.1 i will need to wipe my data. where would i start in terms of wiping my data? also running chevyNo1 kernel. does that mean i would have to "re-install" the kernel? thanks in advance!

Kudos for the guide!
I'm a patient man, but waiting on OTA 2.1 is wearing me down. I will follow this guide and Root/Overclock etc. soon.

And Matt, your first guide got me into rooting, and your second guide is 10x better. You've put your hard work into this guide and it is amazing what you've done with it. And how about using one of those sections for JIT? or ABD maybe? Or maybe even term codes?

Haha it took about an hour with formatting and whatnot. And I don't think I'm well liked by the mods because I'm mean.

The guide shows you how, but basically it takes like 10 seconds in SPR. You will have to reinstall a kernel

I could do that

1. Odd, I don't have that issue. And you've tried to refresh and whatnot? Do you have GPS turned on in Menu > Settings > location? It's off by default.
2. I thought I had this issue but then it started working again. Weird.
3. You can just change to a 10 slot kernel instead of 5.
