I've been around computers for over 25 years (and fix laptops as a hobby/2nd job) but had never modded a phone before. Matth3w's guide was SUPERB, giving step-by-step instructions for even the newest of us to this but not being condensending at all. My Droid works GREAT with the new build I'm not bothering to overclock at this time because even at stock speed this is much faster than any other phone/handheld device I've ever owned. Keep up the good work Matt and good luck to you and your family.

just went from bb.7 to bb.8. the only problem i noticed is when dialing *228, i don't have the dial pad present to push '2' to update roaming capabilities. i ended up using the physical keyboard. no biggie but is there a fix to this? never had that issue w/ bb.7.

Matth3w,
I have a rooted Droid with Firmware Version 2.0.1 & Bugless Beast 0.7.5
If I was going to upgrade to Bugless Beast 0.8, I would begin on step #9, correct?

It seems that all of my apps can no longer request higher permissions.
I still have the Superuser Permissions ninja guy in my app drawer.
Is there a way I can restore my root access without going all the way back to an OEM rom and doing the whole process over?
In caSe anyone is interested I solved this by using the update.zip method to update to bugless beast 0.8. I suspect it has to do with the upgrade.zip removing my old kernel.

Quick question, in step 36 you say if you are using the update.zip method (if I already have a 2.1 rom) to head to the update.zip step. So does that mean I don't have to do a factory reset, and cache wipe before doing this since you refer us to the step before we do that in the original nandroid method? Or do we still have to do these things?
And if you already have a 2.1 ROM, does you apps and data get erased when you install 0.8? Meaning will I have to dl all my apps again, and set up my homescreens again?
-
Using update.zip to go from a previous version of bugless beast with v2.1 doesn't require a wipe. I just went from 0.7 to 0.8 and the only thing that went away was my overclocked kernel.
I have read that if you're coming from some other rom, even if its 2.1, you're safer doing the wipe and nandroid install.

Ok awesome, at that point I just have to reapply my overclock kernel right?

Installed 0.8, works great, love this phone haha

My friends phone keeps getting sent into a reboot loop on steps 43 and 51. I eventually just gave up installing BB and the Chevy kernel. But I would still like to know what is going wrong. He's coming from the 2.0.1 stock and I've rooted his phone and done everything this guide says to do, to the letter. After I gave up installing BB I just went on with installing the Wifi tether, which works fine. The phone just doesn't seem to want to take the update.zip files, since BB and the kernel are both update.zips.
I've done all this to my phone without issue, so I'm not really sure what's going on.
Any help would be great, and if you need any more info just let me know!
Thanks in advance!

If you're friend is coming from 2.0.1 he has to use the nandroid method, so I don't think he followed the guide to the letter
