I'm rooted/oclocked and smoked! Just wondering if there's spposed to be a way to "jump" to one screen w/out scrolling?
Just followed your guide after having used droidmod and a couple of othr ROMs before inevitably going back to stock. So far, I'm VERY pleased. The TiBackup made it very convieniant to restore my apps and no FCs yet. Thank you very much for taking the time to write this all up. BTW, it's my first time using BB and I'm really happy with it so far using the SG theme.
The only gribe I have is that I wish the SG Pandora Widget came standard.....![]()
Matt, just wanted to say that I hadn't rooted or tried any roms before I tried your guide. I just finished following it and it worked great! Thanks for the help!
So let me see if I follow:....if we root to 2.1 and the OTA 2.1 comes out we can't utilized the OTA so we wait till its released in an update.zip form "deprecated" and then update manually.
AFter that will the person who follows that sequence have any advantage or disadvantage over the person who presently has 2.0.1 and waits for the 2.1 OTA and "then" roots?... or does this put them in the same boat?
Just trying to figure out if there is a legitimate reason for waiting for the possible 2.1 OTA first.

No deprecated just means not recommended or old. You could install the OTA update using that method. This 2.1 is going to be more versatile and customizable over the official OTA is by far. Besides, anything that comes out in the official is going to be hacked immediately. Lastly, this rom is based on a leak of an official update...so essentially you're getting a hacked official or near official update anyhow
Understood, due to all the tweaks and hacks that have been done.
But "sorry to keep rehashing", it sounds like
1. The "person A" who has already followed your guide is up and running on a version that has the 2.1 foundation pretty close to the OTA "except for the extra hacks enhancements they did on top of that... etc"
2. The "person B" who waits and does the OTA, "then" roots and does your method, and will obviously be using the version of hacks available to all at that time (current "roms, kernels, etc") that are available....... so does that put both scenarios in the exact same boat?
The reason I ask if I'm having a few issues I hope the 2.1 OTA will resolve.... like 1. 1. When using an extended battery and I reboot, it throws the "percentage left" much higher after the reboot... there appears to be a firmware glitch.
2. When on the charger and finished charging and rebooting, the autobrightness sticks on "bright"and I have to go uncheck and recheck.
3. When I assign a custom notification the phone will use it ok, but upon reboot it chooses and default ring instead, but once fully in the O.S. it uses the assigned tone.
4, Funky sound issues that I"ve had to go to EVRC-B and turn off voice security to resolve.
These are issues that I guess would be fixed provided the leaked modified 2.1 that you guys have has those fixes in them verses the OTA that could have later releases of fixes that could solve issues that were not dealt with when the leak was released.
As we know, any firmware release has lots of hidden code, tweaks and fixes that are so minute they are not mentioned on the list of real issues dealt with.. yet you get them nevertheless.

So back to our discussion.... lets say "person A" who has already fully rooted and installed all the goodies wants to do the official 2.1 release "manually" to insure they have the latest "hidden" fixes ....... would that person have all the extra last minute up to date tweaks and fixes that "person B" who waited and did the OTA first before he rooted and did all the extras?
If the answer is yes, my next question will be, does "person A" have to unroot and basically start over to get back all the little extra goodies.... "overclock, etc" or will the manual "update.zip" simply go over the top of a rooted modified Droid?..."root, tweaks, and all".
Sorry this question may be complex to answer, but I have the feeling many people have been trying to figure this out too as I have seen this question danced around and dodged through my readings.
Its still a tad unclear if there are any advantages to waiting as I don't want to undo everything and start over to get the latest.
Quite Frankly, despite many who said "it was easy" if I successfully get though every one of those steps I want to call it good and thank God I made it... not start at scratch and do it again and press my luck!

Awesome! Thank you. I wish I had this when I rooted. Thanks again. Nice work.
