SU not working now?!

Hey all got something unusual happening here...

when i did my rooting i got su to work fine

now for some reason after flash bb 7.8 and restoring my backups using mybackup pro i am not able to su in terminal anymore

when i go into terminal and type su i get "Permission denied"

I can confirm my superuser permission is still there and does open showing files and I have also reinstalled terminal emulator


Any help is greatly appreciated

yes. a lot of people are losing root when using 7.8. know one is really sure whats wrong. there are a lot of ideas. i'm just waiting for the next update

i tried reapplying the root update.zip and still wont do it... i guess we need a update

From reading posts on Alldroid and from my on personal experience here is what fixed all my problems with apps and root permissions:

1. Use update.zip method to install bb7.6.
2. In Terminal Emulator type in the following:

SU
chmod 755 /system/xbin/busybox
Reboot

3. Open, one at a time, every program that needs root; metamorph, setcpu, etc.
4. Use update.zip to install BB7.8
5. Repeat steps 1-3.
6. If Wifi Tethering doesn't work, download the latest version at http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list

and install it after uninstalling whatever version you had.


All should be well after that. (unless I oops again and left something out )

This worked for me. YMMV

I used tghe 7.9 patch updater and still getting permission denied and I did reinstall terminal

Anyone else still having problems

i'm having problems too. busybox gets permission denied. we need a fix
