Clockwork recovery 5.0.2.0 boots ot a blank screen on rroted Droid -X

Hi New to rooting phones- not new to linux

I searched a good 2 hours looking for ways to make my droid -x backup my current ROM from VZW before I attempt to load a custom ROM. The backup never happens from ROM manager- that's the perscriptive issue- the cause appears that CWRM will not boot correctly. I have tried both Droid x bootstraps and still the same.

To fix it i have to manually pull the battery and try again.

Any advice appreciated. I have paid for all associated apps to Pro or purchased level

on gingerbread... to get droid x bootstrap to work... you need to uncheck usb debugging...
or since you already have rom manager... leave usb debugging checked... then open bootstrap and hit bootstrap recovery... then go into rom manager... and use that to update the recovery... then use rom manager to boot into recovery... and you should be good to go

Hi Nemo- I di all the above- still blank screen- i perhaps missed a step- what does
"and use that to update the recovery."- mean?

Which recovery- CWRM is at 5.0.2.0 and i do nto see an option of use a particular bootflash

I did find the manual flash recovery option in the menu via keypad----confirmed to use Droid-X recovery

I still get a blank screen

have you tried with toggling usb debugging?
it's found under settings/applications/development/

Yep that works- thank you very much . I won't try a ROM tonight- that will be for tomorrow evening perhaps. i have heard that Drid -X and ROM manager do not play nice all the time so I will do research before I risk bricking the phone

me personally... i don't like something else doing my flashing... i prefer to flash manually... and rom manager doesn't hijack the recovery... which is why bootstrap is necessary...
