Wi-Fi tether causes extreme heat!

I used the wifi tether for about 20 minutes today and when i picked up the phone it was extremely hot. Could not even put it to my ear to make a phone call. I also have cpu overclocked to 800mhz, but also have a profile set to 550 if phone gets over 40*c. I got very worried that I may have caused some sort of damage to the phone or battery life. Anyone else experience this?

What temp did you see? Do you have Temp Monitor installed? What rom are you using?

Now, the best answer I can give with the info at hand is, your phone did not get too hot to hurt it as Setcpu would have cut the processor speed if it got to 40C. I mean 40 is only 104F and the phone and the battery are rated for 113F. The chip is rated for something really high like 70C. So I doubt you've damaged anything.

On any phone you use, it increases the speed. I jailbroke my iphone and when it was tethered, it ran extremely hot.

No i dont have a temp monitor app, im using the sholes *****in bagel 2.0.3, if the phone would have been put to my ear for a phone call i wouldve got burnt thats how crazy hot this thing got.
