If you already tried the *228 then not really.

Hey mat thank you so much for your help. I finally finished and tried what you told me and this phone is freakin sweet now. I am now a true droid freak
So I went back to stock and re-updated to BB 0.7.5, and it went smoothly...
...but now, whenever I connect the Droid to my laptop (aka whenever I want to put anything on it, or take any media and put it on my computer), the phone gets stuck in a boot cycle. When I disconnect the USB, the next boot-up in the cycle works and the phone functions normally.
Anyone know what the deal is with this? Thanks.
Somebody else did have this issue, what ROM did you update from?
Phone Reboots When I Mount
Edit: Nevermind, need to open my eyes a little. Were you by chance using the 2.1 launcher?

just followed the steps and everything went perfect. great write up. I liked learning while i was doing. THANK YOU
EDIT: Just noticed, keyboard and buttons below screen (back, menu, home, search) do not always light up after waking the phone from sleep. Also, after selecting WIDGETS, takes noticeably longer. ( up to 5 seconds before widget screen pops up)
Anyone else have similar issues?

i followed the instructions all the way through, and everything worked perfectly. but i've noticed that i get pretty bad keyboard lag when typing on forums, not sure if it happens anywhere else but haven't seen it and i don't think this used to happen. is this a known issue or is there something i can do to remedy it?
Matt,
Thanks for the reply on the keyboard issue. Being the noob that i am, i couldn't figure it out, but i'm not going to even bother (2.1 rom has that fix and it appears pete will have an update.zip version out soon).
I do have another question for you that perhaps you could shed some light on.
I followed all your steps and installed everything fine.
It runs well and i installed setcpu + the temp monitor.
My issue surrounds the cpu temp. I am regularly getting 120-130F after about 5-10 minutes of web browsing.
So i read around and people talked about reflashing etc... and i wasn't exactly sure what they were talking about, so i just went back to square one. I went back to stock and then reinstalled everything (following your steps above) and i still have the problem.
Do you think it is something with the rom on my phone? Can you think of anything i can try to run cooler?
I have a heat issue running any clock speed, but it gets worse as i OC higher.
At 550 i'm still seeing highs of 115 (from what i read, so people said they don't see higher than 104 running at 1k).
Anyways, thanks for reading and i would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks
I will say this...the phone (from the link in my signature that I found the spec sheet on the OMAP3430 chipset) says it operates from 0-70C (159F). I would say you have nothing to worry about.
That being said, 115 is pretty high for a stock phone from what I have seen (you can see my results in my signature), especially if you have no case.
What I would do if I were you, is do what I did. I set my battery temp failsafe for like 97F (36.11C). Because honestly overclocking to 1GHz I noticed not a single lick of difference when playing games or the browser. Remember both of those programs are minimal on the Droid (you aren't playing Fallout 3 or Crysis or whatever) so at some point the gains are going to be minimal. What I mean is, at 550mhz - 800mhz maybe you notice a 15% quicker response, and that is going to shrink as you go higher. I hope that makes sense.
Anyhow, I have mine set that low because frankly when I am using the internet, GPS, or game, I couldn't care less about overclocking. What I overclock for is to enjoy the snapiness of switching from the home to SMS or using a 3rd party home replacement app or something. So by setting the battery failsafe setting that low, you are effectively using it as another profile, which is gaming/websurfing. So when it gets that high you have it set to scale back to 550 or whatever.
That's just my personal opinion, take it for what it's worth.
Thank for the GUIDE! it really went smoothly and i thank you again for taking your time to help us (that is directed at all the guys here too!)
i got a quick question.. well problem...
everything installed the way it should but now whenever i connect my usb cable from my computer to my droid it shuts off and restarts over and over again untill i unplug it. any suggestions?
