You're looking for Android Terminal Emulator on the Market. The app INSTALLS as Terminal Emulator.
question about reverting to the stock 2.0.1
I read that you can use SMUpdate....but i dont know how to get it. Can you point me in the right direction so i can get BB rolling?
Thanks!
nevermind i found it![]()
No, just ignore it.
Hey I forgot to mention, thank you for the write up - I had many, many, MANY questions... but the write up answered most of em - nicely done, thank you again!
Given my situation - for lack of a better term, lets call it "cross-updating" I do still have a few questions.
First, will this wipe my phone? I mean will I lose all my apps and contacts and such. I am not worried, I know they are easy to get back... just so far I havn't had to bother as no update has wiped my phone. This wouldn't be a deal breaker - just want the info.
Next - it seems, since I am coming from Sholes 2.0.3, that I could just start your walk through on step 27... or even step 34. Is that correct? If so, I suspect I will be running BB in the next 20 minutes or so.
Finally, I have seem some posts that would seem to indicate that BB .74 is more reliable than .75 - is this correct? I would like to just run .75 unless there is a compelling reason NOT to.
Thank you for all your help so far and to come!
Take care,
Rob
1. No problem, I enjoyed doing this writeup.
2. Depending on the method you use, it will not wipe your apps or settings. That being said, usually I recommend when coming from another mod completely to start fresh, but you could always try the update.zip method starting from right AFTER you make the backup (where it says "ok now we're going to install bugless beast"). Worst case I usually backup my apps using Mybackup Pro which also gets a lot of settings backed up as well, then do a fresh install.
3. 0.7.5 is the most stable for me thus far and also the fastest build, but I have only been using it since 0.7.2 or so. Just make sure you update Google Maps to 4.0 from the market BEFORE you install the ROM.
Stupid question. the change log says removed maps? What exactly does this mean? I already updated to Google Maps 4.0 I did that right after I loaded 0.7.4 last weekend.... This means I should be ok right? I am still running 0.7.4 without any issues, but if there is a newer version why the heck not LoL
