Trying to change my boot animation

To start with you need to be rooted. I think the boot animation on the DX is in Data/Local. Depending on the type of file, you'd either flash it in recovery or copy/paste it to Data/Local named "bootanimation.zip".

Yes I am rooted. Umm is there a site where I can choose from diff animations or am I gonna be stuck with one?

You're welcome, there are a bunch scattered about. Here is what a quick Google search finds. Just looking through a little it seems like there are pretty good instructions for installing, most seem to be flashable in recovery.

First off make sure you always save a copy of the original boot animation!!!!

There are many animations on the net but you can create your own it is a bit of a process to learn but i have made a few with custom sound. The programs I use (and I always like to donate if I can use them) we are going to split into Comp and Phone

Comp- I like to use Gimp this will let you break your video down into individual photos so they can be used and 7-zip to zip and unzip files. You can use videos that you have or you can pull them off the net (I have one that is the just like this one ( ) set to Bad Company by 5FDP)

Phone- Super File Manager(they have a free version) and this must have Super User from being rooted and the animation file is @ /system/media
The desc.txt file from the bootanimation.zip file is what tells the pictures how to act and can be a little tricky at first and the part0 part1 files are where you put the pics

What I done was copied the original bootanimation.zip file and opened it up on my PC to look at it. Please remember anytime you are messing with root files you could cause a brick. Several of my first attempts the phone would just show no boot animation at start up so if you create your own please give the phone time to boot once you apply a new animation if you did it wrong it will just show a blank screen and always makes me a bit nervous.

look up liberty toolbox app it changes the boot animation without using bootloader

Download Bac Lite its a free app it finds boot settings and changes it simply, its in market.
