tried installing rom and messed it all up

I've had my og droid since came out. thought id try doing something with it since upgrade is coming up soon. 'm new to this and never done it before. i did successfully root it, got the superuser. then this is were i messed it all up. tried installing gingerbread i think it was. no i didn't make a backup. not even sure if i flashed it or whatever its called haha. it turns on, but stops at the motorola symbol for bout 30 seconds then restarts and keeps doing this going no further.

There are instructions for un- bricking your OG droid. I think Peter Alfonso has these.

Try to Google it if peteralfonso.com doesn't work for you.

I don't know. Can you reflash? If you pull the battery and boot with your finger on the x key, you might be able to get into recovery. Then wipe and reflash.

yes i can get to recovery. im not sure what u mean by reflash. im pretty new to this

And also make sure you are using a ROM that will work. Where did you get this ROM or what does the file say?

Ok well that is for the droid 1 so that is good (it is an older build but should work). Now back to what marty said. From a powered off state, slide out the keyboard, hold in X and power up the phone. This should get you into recovery mode where you can do a full data wipe and then reinstall the ROM.

ok well thats where i get lost on what to do what to do first and were the rom is

How did you get the ROM on your phone? Did you download it using ROM manager, a broswer (if so what one), or did you move it there from your PC?
