I renamed it instead of unpacking it and it's working as I write this (knock on wood). Can you say nooooooob!? Too funny. See what happens when we Windows types start meddling in tech we don't understand? This has been some fun learning though.

So if it just needs to be renamed, why doesn't the download just have the right name to begin with? I understand that there's probably a good reason - just trying to learn.

thank you sooo much! very helpful and easy to follow. Now, as i noticed i cant do this procedure with sholes 2.1, is there a way i can now update 2.0.1 to 2.1? because when trying to use 2.1 for the procedure, i would get a "couldn't find tar" error or something to that likes when trying to locate it on the sd...

also, this is going to sound very noob, but is there a noob guide to installing a rom? i just can't seem to grasp how to install them. i pretty much just want my stock theme and be able to overclock it.

When doing step 35 to Perform Backup.. well when i do that it gives me an error and that it couldnt backup and gave me error code 55 i belive.. What is wrong??

Nevermind I was able to do it on the 2nd try. Dunno why it gave me that error but i installed Bugless Beast and hopefully it all works out! lol

How long does it take to reboot??? It's cycling between the Droid text and the red eye. Been doing that for a few minutes. Tried removing battery and restarting again but it's doing the same thing. What gives?

Step 21 is the only place I had an issue.. It said it didn't exist, but the instructions said it may be fine without that step, so I continued. Any ideas?

i had to revert to before sholes because it kept restarting my phone everytime i plugged it into the computer or i got a new email... any ideas why it does this?
