    @stonyman72 - you may need to right-click on the link and choose to 'save file..'

    @themuffinman - what was the last step in the process that you've completed?

    @daevans - sometimes you have to reconfigure home screens. I just flashed Pete's Bugless Beauty v 8.2, restored my data and STILL had to reconfigure all my home screens.

    If you use the 2.1 launcher it is laggy. Try just going with 2.0.1 launcher. Also, if you still want more speed you might consider over clocking. I'm running at 900 MHz and its fast. Beware the risks if you do.

    This is by far one of the best tutorials I have ever read!

    I have been modding things like cell phones, psp's, wii's, linux windows etc for several years and this is one of the best and easiest write ups I have ever seen.

    20. Type '/system/bin/flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-0.99.2b.img'.

    When doing this step I get the error: /system/bin/flash_image: 1: Syntax error: newline unexpected

    Any ideas? Everything else up to this worked.

    it must be the 2.1 launcher. it is an excellent tutorial though. this is what finaly gave me the confidence to install sprecovery and do some moding

    I tried it via the instructions on sholes too:
    $ dd if=/sdcard/flash_image of=/data/local/flash_image
    $ chmod 755 /data/local/flash_image
    $ rm /sdcard/flash_image

    # /data/local/flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-0.99.2b.img

    and I get the exact same error.
    /data/local/flash_image: 1: Syntax error: newline unexpected

    @Jeff5886 - Glad to hear it, thanks! As far as OTA's I think is was covered on pages 2 and 3 of this thread when I linked to: "the latest nandroid flash utility blocks OTA updates" from post #2 of this thread. Since sprecovery includes the latest nandroid flash utility i would say ota's are block as soon as you've completed step 21.

    @navysqrrl - I will try to do some searching to help you. I don't have any answers as of yet concerning your error message.

    @Guchi - I'm glad this guide was helpful to you. Now that you have sprecovery, anything is possible. You can flash different rom from different developers. Like the Pete's rom I'm using now... See, this tutorial focuses on the sholes rom installation but once you understand what you've done here you can see the sholes rom installation itself is the most insignifcant part of what you accomplish by completing the steps. good luck and have fun using your hardware to it's fullest!
