Greetings all,
I love my Droid X so much I bought an android tablet (used, on ebay), just to experiment. It's quite an interesting device, but unfortunately, many of the things I'm used to using on my Droid X don't work on the tablet. For example, none of these work: the app store (it's not the "market"), maps (sort of looks like google maps, but I can't log in), youtube. I don't even know how these apps got on the tablet since the app store doesn't work.
I figured I could easily upgrade the 1.6 ROM, but it seems nothing is readily available. So where do I start? I'm ok with "rooting" it I guess, if that's what I need to do. But I don't have any idea where to get a ROM - there are so many, and I don't know how to tell if they're device-specific.
Is it even possible to update this device?
The box has the android logo, but nothing else.
On the back of the tablet, it says: Model No.: LY-706, Input Power 9V.
On the "about" screen, it shows:
Model Number: Generic
Firmware version: 1.6
Kernel version: 2.6.29-00236-g4f8dbbb-dirty
Build number: 1.8.2

TIA for any guidance/suggestions you can offer.
